Brazing Fitting and braze welding Joint BS Standards

Apr 06, 2021

BS stadnards of brazed welding fittings is normal design process, brazing is a metal-joining process in which two or more metal items are joined together by melting and flowing a filler metal into the joint, the filler metal having a lower melting point than the adjoining metal.

Key British Standards as follows:

BS EN ISO 17672 Brazing. Filler materials

BS EN 14324 Brazing. Guidance on the application of brazed joints

BS EN 13134 Brazing. Procedure approval

BS EN 13585 Qualification test of brazers and brazing operators

BS EN 12799 Brazing. Non-destructive examination of brazed joints

BS EN 12797 Brazing. Destructive tests of brazed joints

EN1044:1999,Brazing—Filler metals.

EN 1045,Brazing —Fluxes for brazing— Classification and technical delivery conditions.

EN 12797,Brazing -Destructive tests of brazed joints.

EN 12799,Brazing —Non-destructive examination of brazed joints.

EN13133,Brazing —Brazer approval.

EN 13134,Brazing -Procedure approval.

EN ISO 18279,Brazing—lmperfections in brazed joints (ISo 18279:2003).

Braze welding is the use of a bronze or brass filler rod coated with flux to join steel work pieces. Braze welding has many advantages over fusion welding. It allows the joining of dissimilar metals, minimization of heat distortion, and can reduce the need for extensive pre-heating. Additionally, since the metals joined are not melted in the process, the components retain their original shape; edges and contours are not eroded or changed by the formation of a fillet
