O-ring face seal vs o-ring boss seal fittings difference

Apr 27, 2020

O-ring face seal is also called ORFS, as per SAE J1453 and ISO 8434-3 standard. ORFS fittings have flat sealing surfaces that contain an embedded seal, which mates to flanged tubing or hose fittings. O-ring boss seal design is also called ORB as per ISO 11926-1 and SAE J1926-1 standard.

The same point is the SAE straight UNF thread for ORFS and ORB fittings, the different point is sealing method: ORFS fittings is connected to hydraulic tubing and hose adapters by metal and o-ring double seal, ORB fittings is connected to female thread port by o-ring seal.

O-ring Flat face hydraulic fittings is used for high pressure fluid power piping system, industrial application in hydraulic excavator, loaders, forklift, tractor, harvester, valves, petrol gas and vibration working situation etc. SAE o-ring face seal size chart is different from o-ring boss size, different size o-ring.

We con combine two seal in one:  ORFS Male fittings to SAE ORB stud, shape has straight fittings, elbow fittings, tee fittings. ORFS male fittings connect to hydraulic hose assembly, tubing; ORB stud end connect to ORB female port of manifold, we call hydraulic adapter.
